My weekend was a write-off, chores-wise, although a big success in other ways. I did my belt grading at Karate on Saturday morning, and now have a shiny new Blue Belt. Woohoo! But a grading is a pretty gruelling process, what with it being a solid 3 hours of fairly full-on sweat-fest. Saturday afternoon was spent celebrating, and by Saturday evening I was only good for lying down and moving as little as possible. On Sunday I felt like I had been hit by a truck, so housework really didn’t figure on the radar.
Today I feel better again, so I got up with the greatest of intentions. Well, we all know what the road to Hell is paved with, right?
So I will admit that today didn’t turn out quite as planned. Days rarely do, in my world. I took a wee trip to the supermarket instead of attacking the list of chores straight away. We needed a new phone for the house, and some blue nail varnish to match the new belt (an essential post-grading treat). An entire morning disappeared, in fact.
But this afternoon I finally knuckled down to clean the kitchen, properly. Music seemed to be in order as an accompaniment to help alleviate the boredom. A quick glance at the music collection, and Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory leapt out at me.
This is an album I find really energising. I don’t know what that says about me. Nor do I care. It has got me through a tough training run or two, so I figured it could get me through an hour of kitchen dirt. Turned up loud, a good bit of shouty music is clearly really good for the Demonic Soul. And, it would seem, for the state of my demonically possessed house. The kitchen is actually CLEAN.
The only problem is that it isn’t a long enough album, at least not when I have a whole house of rooms that need some serious attention. Next on the shopping list might have to be some more Turn It Up To Eleven albums I think.
I am now off to paint my toenails blue before the next training session
